The EduNeering curricula meets or exceeds requirements issued by states including Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Vermont.
On November 16, 2006 at 11:00 am EST (8:00 am PST), EduNeering will deliver a web-based seminar (webinar) on the new California regulations and best practices for sexual harassment training. This timely webinar will include details of the final California regulation, which will be published on November 15, 2006. In announcing the new curricula, Jason Meyer, EduNeering's Chief Legal Officer and its Ethics Practice Leader, said, "For employers to raise an effective defense or avoid punitive damages in sexual harassment lawsuits, they must demonstrate sexual harassment training for all employees. But more than that, sexual harassment training is a critical tool used by proactive employers who wish to promote a positive workplace. The EduNeering approach to sexual harassment training and to compliance in general, is to encourage organizations to ‘Do the Right Thing' - in other words, to establish a work environment in which positive ethical behavior is the norm."
Added Kim Moffa, EduNeering's Human Resources Practice Leader, "Our new courses, coupled with EduNeering's validated document distribution platform, provide our clients with tools to implement sexual harassment training. The new courses include Workplace Harassment Awareness for Managers in Major States, Workplace Harassment Awareness for Employees, and Harassment in the Workplace. EduNeering functionality gives companies a way to meet the additional requirements of the California regulation, including delivering and acknowledging reading of company's anti-harassment policy; delivering instructions on how to bring questions to company's in-house subject matter experts, and receiving questions from employees on-line, and route them to company's in-house subject matter experts."
According to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), prevention is the best tool to eliminate sexual harassment in the workplace. Companies committed to best practices take steps necessary to prevent sexual harassment from occurring through sexual harassment training to their employees, an effective compliance or grievance process, and a prompt response to any complaints by employees, contractors or agents about possible harassment.
AB 1825 requires that all companies with 50 or more employees and at least one employee in California must provide sexual harassment training to the supervisor of those employees. Two hours of training are required every two years under the California regulation.
