Kaplan EduNeering and ISNetworld to Implement Comprehensive Training and Record Keeping Program for Leading Alaskan Oil Exploration Company
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance Initiative Extends to all Subcontractors
July 10, 2008 – Princeton, New Jersey – Kaplan EduNeering, a leading provider of compliance and knowledge management solutions, and ISNetworld, a web-based contractor management database company, have been contracted by a global energy company to provide a comprehensive online training and record keeping program. Under the agreement, Kaplan EduNeering and ISNetworld will provide health, safety and environmental (HSE) training and record keeping for the company’s local employees and several thousand outside contractors in the company’s Alaskan oil and gas exploration operations. The program will enable to the organization to achieve compliance with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation’s Hazardous Substances Pollution Control regulations.
Kaplan EduNeering will develop a series of custom learning programs and courses that will be used as part of the company’s mandatory training program for subcontractors. Courses will be targeted to individuals according to the jobs they perform and their job locations. Training topics range from oil discharge prevention to energy source hazard recognition, permit-specific issues, defensive driving and polar bear awareness. Each course includes a test to assure comprehension of subject matter. Completed coursework records will be uploaded to ISNetworld’s contractor management information system, which helps business owners, government contractors and suppliers, satisfy governmental and operator-specific recordkeeping requirements.
More than 120 owner clients in 50 states and Canada require approximately 13,000 contractors to use the ISNetworld system to ensure that health, safety and environment requirements for compliance are met. Contractor training has emerged as a key issue for owner companies in industries as diverse as oil and gas exploration, engineering and construction, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The growing reliance of many companies on contracted workers can pose both compliance and operational vulnerabilities if contracted employees are unable to perform their job functions in compliance with regulatory requirements and standards established by the owner company for its own employees. The extension of compliance training to contractors can minimize that vulnerability, reduce the risk on injury or accident, and ensure that all members of the workforce possess the same knowledge to meet compliance and performance goals.
